Decommissioning and Maintenance of Fields in Late Production

As stated by ANP, more than 50% of the Offshore facilities in Brazil have surpassed 25 years of operation and about 79 facilities are expected to be decommissioned in the years to come, being fixed platforms the majority of these assets. While these assets are still in their life of operation or need to extend the life, a comprehensive and innovative late maintenance may be a decision to be taken. Brazil is now working to clear the uncertainties concerned to Decommissioning activities, then it is time to learn the challenges with regulation, technical, logistics, financial, environmental, legal and social impacts in order to overcome with a sustainable solution.
