Materials Technology

The exploration of offshore oil and gas fields in deep waters and the extensive use of subsea developments give several challenges with respect to materials technology for both Brazilian and Norwegian offshore developments. The conditions introduced by corrosive environments/fluids and high static and dynamic loads, is a tough challenge for design of robust and cost-effective pipeline and riser systems. This calls for continuous improvement in materials characterization/selection, design and integrity management. The Materials Technology session will focus on recent R&D findings related to integrity of subsea pipelines and risers, including flexible pipes.
